Prescriptions

From 1st May 2017, our practices will not accept request for prescriptions by third parties such as pharmacies except for those who are house bound patients or have special circumstances. This initiative is supported and promoted by Wirral CCG to ensure patients get only the medication they need and avoid wasting of NHS resources.

Patients can request their repeat medication by attending the practice, (tick any medication required on the tear off slip of your prescription, by email ([email protected]) for Miriam

([email protected]) for Earlston

by using Online Patient Access (Please request online access registration from reception) or by post (if you enclose a SAE your new prescription will be returned to you by post)
or by downloading and registering on our app, search your app store for ‘Miriam Primary Care Group’. The app is available on Apple store and Google Play.

Please don’t call the practice to order your medication.
The only patients we can do this for is house bound patients.

Patients can continue to have their medication delivered to their home by arrangement with their preferred pharmacy.

Please allow 48 hours for your request to be processed.

Remember

It is your responsibility to ensure that you do not run out of medicines. Keep all medicines in a secure, locked place out of reach of small children. Always read the instructions and use the suggested dose. Watch expiry dates—don’t keep or use medicines past their sell-by date. Take all unwanted and out-of-date medicines back to the pharmacy.

Prescription Charges
If you have to pay for more than three prescription items in three months, or 14 items in 12 months, you could save money by buying a Pre Payment Certificate (PPC). From 1 April 2022, the charge for a single prescription item is £9.35, whereas a three-month PPC will cost you £30.25 and a 12 month PPC £108.10. The most convenient way to pay for your 12 month PPC is by Direct Debit, spreading the cost over 10 monthly instalments. Some patients in receipt of certain benefits are entitled to free prescription charges.

Miriam Primary Care Group is signed up to Wirral Prescribing Incentive Scheme.
