Appointments

Online Booking Service
We now have an online appointment booking service available for patients who have registered for this service. Please request registration details from Reception.

Enhanced Access
The group has enhanced access on specified days each week offering pre-bookable routine appointments outside normal surgery hours ( 6.30 – 8.00 pm ), and weekends. These are only available for patients who are registered with a practice from Arno or Northcoast Alliance’s. The appointments are with a GP, Nurse or other health care professional depending on clinical circumstances.

All surgeries are by appointment only. To make an appointment please telephone 0151 652 6077 for Miriam, 0151 639 2635 for Earlston/Field Road or call in person at reception. A single appointment is usually for a 10-minute consultation. In special circumstances, you can request a longer appointment and this will be booked where possible.

Please state whether your appointment is:

Urgent – we will try and see you on the same day
Priority  – we will try and see you within 24 hours
Routine  – you can book appointments within 48 hours

You can pre-book an appointment up to 4 weeks in advance.

You can help by being on time for your appointment and letting reception know if you need to cancel.

Home Visits
Are only for patients who are housebound or too ill to attend the surgery. Please ring before 10:00 to allow the doctors to plan visits. All visits are triaged by our team of Nurse Practitioners who liaise with the doctors.

Telephone Consultations
If you wish to speak to the doctor or nurse, a telephone consultation will be booked for you during surgery.

Test Results
Please call after 14:00.

Travel Vaccinations
Before travelling abroad, complete a holiday vaccination form which the practice nurse will check and inform you of the vaccinations you require. This is best done about 8 weeks before travelling. Most vaccinations are carried out on the NHS but a fee may be payable for some.

Patient Details
Please provide contact details including home telephone number, mobile number, career details and email address. This will help us to contact you and inform you of on-going developments. This information is not shared with anyone else.

Introduction of a Text Messaging Service
The aim is to reduce the number of missed appointments with a text message. After enrolling, patients will receive a text message approximately 24 hours prior to the appointment. Patients will also be eligible to receive health information relevant to you such as immunisation reminders or periodic review reminders. There is no charge for receiving a text message, however, if you reply then you will be charged at a standard text messaging rate depending on your network. Please give your mobile number to reception.

Out of Hours
Strictly Emergencies Only
For urgent advice and treatment when the practice is closed, call the surgery number 0151 652 6077 for Miriam, 0151 639 2635 for Earlston & Seabank/Field Road. You will hear a message with instructions on what to do next. You can also call NHS 111.

Medical Students
Our Practices are undergraduate teaching practices; therefore medical students will be undertaking some of their education at each practice. Consequently, you may see a medical student in addition to your doctor. This is an important part of their training as future doctors but please be assured that all student activity is closely supervised by your doctor. Should you prefer to see the doctor alone without a student present then you are free to do so. This will not prejudice your treatment or care in any way.

Please inform reception if you would prefer to be seen without a student present.
