Please note that our practice services are open to patients for Face to Face consultations and we have taken every precaution to ensure all our patients and staff are protected with the right Personal Protective Equipment.

The Minor Injury & Illness Service commenced new hours of opening 8 am to 8 pm every day from 1st April 2020. Extended GP Access continues to be available each weekend and can be booked through your own practice or by ringing 0151 652 6077.

Coronavirus Pandemic

Field Road Health Centre Wallasey

Two new GP Care Hubs commenced delivering service to patients in Birkenhead and Wallasey this week. One is based on the second floor of Birkenhead Medical Building on Laird Street and the other at Field Road Health Centre in Wallasey.  These special clinics will deliver a dedicated service to patients suspected of Covid 19 symptoms based on prior telephone assessment by their own GP surgery.

These services are commissioned by Wirral CCG and delivered by Wirral GP Federation (GPW-Fed) (which represents 26 Wirral GP practices) in partnership with Miriam Primary Care Group.

In the current crisis the majority of General Practice service is being provided through telephone, video or e-consultations.  GP Care Hubs will offer a safe and independent setting where patients with mild to moderate symptoms of suspected Covid 19 are assessed by a multi-disciplinary team of GPs, Nurse Practitioners, Physician Associates and Health Care Assistants.

This service is to assess and treat patients symptomatically.

GP Care Hubs are being delivered in dedicated areas which are operating to a very strict protocol to limit cross contamination. The service has sourced Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) to the highest standards including FFP masks, Face Shields, Gowns, Gloves etc. The service is also using “Vital Signs Monitors“ to assess patients.

Dr Abhi Mantgani of Miriam Primary Care Group and Exec Lead of Wirral GP Federation who is leading the delivery of the service stated:

This is a critical and challenging time for our country and our communities. Our aim is to treat patients in the community and reduce pressure on hospital services where possible.  We have a dedicated team with adequate resources to manage the situation in a safe manner for staff and patients “

Mrs Clare Barnes, Lead Nurse commented “We have had great support from a number of sources including donations of PPE from various groups. We are grateful for all such support to protect our staff as we do our best to provide the best possible care at this difficult time.

If you think our service can assist you in any way please contact our Practice Managers Mrs Sandra Davies ( [email protected] ) or Mrs Su Stephens ( [email protected] ) or ring 0151 652 6077

Corona Virus Concerns

For Attention of Public and Patients

With the news dominated by Coronavirus, I wanted to get in touch and let you know that we are vigilantly implementing enhanced protocols to ensure your safety.

We are closely monitoring the guidance of the NHS regarding the spread of the virus and our focus is to ensure we meet customer needs whilst doing our part to keep you and our employees safe.

Here’s what we’re doing.

• We’ve enhanced our already robust cleaning techniques of our facilities before and after each shift. In particular, we are paying special attention to the places people touch such as door handles, seats, work surface and other hard surfaces.

• We are also cleaning our facilities frequently with recommended sanitizing products and encouraging all employees to be vigilant about frequent hand washing.

• In addition, we are taking steps to ensure the welfare of our employees. This includes instructing employees who feel ill to stay home and consult their healthcare providers.

Here’s What are we advising.

We are advising our patients and carers to protect themselves from possible infection. If you have any flu like symptoms or respiratory problems, you should self isolate for up to 7 days.

If you have persistent cough, high temperature or concerned that you have Corona Virus infection, please contact 111 immediately ( ) WE DO NOT SWAB PATIENTS FOR CORONA VIRUS – CONTACT 111

Here’s how to get medical help.

If you require medical assistance or have any queries regarding your prescription, please contact the practice by phone or email rather than come in person.

All patients will be triaged by our GPs or nurses through a telephone consultation in the first instance.

If you have a mobile smartphone, we can offer you video or E consult

All prescriptions will be sent directly to your nominated pharmacy, if you haven’t already nominated one please advise us by phone or email immediately.

These measures are being implemented to protect you, your families, all the medical and admin staff, so we can provide uninterrupted service.

Thank you for your co-operation
